Tacajo Black and White Rods
My first "big" order for custom fishing rods came a couple weeks ago. A construction company wanted 6 black and white rods, 3 casting and 3 spinning to give away to employees for safety incentive. After a bit of hassle from my supplier I got the supplies and started the build. I have completed three so far. I think they look pretty sharp!

David P. 8 ft. 5# Fly Rod
This is a beautiful rod! 8 foot, 5 weight trout rod. Started with a 2 piece Phillipson blank which I custom painted. I added AAAA cork grip and an aluminum reel seat. The guides are classic Phillipson double-loops that ensure smooth casting and rugged fish fighting. They are under-wrapped in white and over-wrapped in orange nylon thread. The hilt is blue abalone shell with some internal orange wrapping. I finished the hilt with epoxy to give it a realistic feel--smooth but a little bit of texture. I wish this one was mine...probably my finest build yet.

Another fish caught with a Tacajo Custom! (This one happens to be mine!) 27 1/2 Walleye taken in Rifle Gap. I did not have a scale but I am guessing 10 or 11 lbs.

Bronco Rod
In process of building a medium light trout rod. It is for a gentleman to give to his dad for fathers day. The COOL thing about it is that its a Denver Broncos rod which is really fun for me to make. Its looking pretty sharp. The photos are not professional grade but I will try to get some later. Let me know what you think!

Rebuild--Custom rebuild for K. Fowler
This is a circa 1958 Conolon Custom that had seen better days. I completely stripped the blank except for the grip and the two original logos (seen in photos). I used the original guides and wrapped them with vintage silk thread originally made for Phillipson rods. The color match was darn close. The rod is 7' with and ultra flexible tip. You can use this to fly fish or put on a spinning reel. The reel seat is solid brass adjustable. It is now paired with its original rebuilt Mitchell 300 reel and works as good as new if not better.
Aspen--Custom crafted for Taylor F
This is a six foot medium action spinning rod built for Taylor F. Primarily to be used for trout fishing it has a stiffer spine but a flexible tip. I marbled the split grip with white, blue and yellow. Guides are double footed ceramic wrapped in yellow nylon. The stem design is a reverse chevron with blue, silver, and magenta over a black underwrap. This is the first rod I built.
